It works now with port 587? I thought your Chinese mail provider
told you they only support port 25.

I am having the same problem. I've changed to 587 port but still am not able
to send mail. I had a problem a couple of weeks ago, it was the Norton, so I
deleted it. Am using AVG and everything was fine until today. Anything else I
can try?

I am surprised that port 25 ever worked for you under those
circumstances. As I understand it, BT is your ISP, but you are
using some other provider's SMTP server. That is a no-no in
the modern world. Have your Chinese provider read:

I have gone thru all of your queries and suggestions and I did follow them,
but no luck :-(.

Issue: can receive but unable to send mails.

Details:
- am on Vista
- Using Windows mail and Windows Live Mail
- Tried with port 25 and 587
- I have PC-Cillin anti-virus only(checked by turning it off)

Results:
when I had port 25 and 587 using Windows Live Mail:

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject ''
Server: 'mail.msheri.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25 (587 when used 587)
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10060

when I used Windows Mail with port 25, I saw 0x800CCC19(time out error)
I am not sure what BT that you people have been talking about.

Please suggest.

Msheri.com is a hosted domain, not an ISP. As such, your real ISP
will block any attempt to use a port 25 SMTP server other than its own.
The reason for that policy is explained here:
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

It is not likely that mail.msheri.com supports port 587. Did the
admin for that server tell you that it does?

Let us know who your ISP is, and we can give you a workaround.

I snipped the posts you quoted because they have no bearing on your issue.

Please note that Windows Live Mail has its own newsgroup, so in
the future you should post there:
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
