Can send but not recieve!!!

I am using Windows Mail on Vista.It was functioning properly but now for some
reason I can not receive my emails through this programme only send.
I am getting the following error message as a result of trying to get my
received emails

Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

or I am getting the following error message

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Can someone please help?
 
That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.
