I've got the SAME problem. The msg that I received was:
'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be
delivered to one or more destinations. The e-mail address is not local host
hotmail.com, not a gateway. ur e-mail message is being returned to you in the
next part of this message. Try to send the message again.

Should you need assistance, please contact your administrator or your
internet service provider.
I made contact with the ISP who told me that the problem of Outlook.

You probably need to authenticate to your outgoing server, which you can
set up on the "Outgoing server" tab of your account.

One day it worked and one day I could no longer send email from Outlook 2003,
Windows XP SP2. The error message I get reads: "Task 'Netscape Internet
Service - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC7D) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) server
does not support SSL-secured connections. If SSL-secured connections have
worked in the past, contact your server administrator or internet service
provider (ISP)"

I contacted my ISP and quadruple checked all settings. They are correct.
Netscape (ISP), of course, says Outlook is the problem. I added Outlook to
my Windows firewall exceptions. All ports are set correctly. All ISP
settings are correct. The "outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
box is checked. My server port number for outgoing server is 25 and the SSL
requires encryption box is checked. One interesting thing on the
"connections" tab is that when I click the "properties" button for Netscape,
it does nothing. Could I have a virus or what is my problem. I have reset
my computer back to when it was working, but that did not work either. I
deleted and then added my ISP information. Please help!

I have Outlook 2002. I just installed Service Pack 3 yesterday evening, and
have not been able to send messages since. I receive messages without
trouble.

I tried naming Outlook.exe as an exception to my firewall, and I also tried
turning my firewall off completely. Neither one allowed me to send e-mail.

I will include my OPMLog.log as soon as I figure out how to post an
attachment.

You can't post an attachment using the web interface. Just copy-and-paste
from Notepad.

here is my OPMLog.log:

These lines:
2005.03.02 17:56:32 "SMTP: Finding host")
2005.03.02 17:56:32 "SMTP PH: Connecting to SMTP
server")
2005.03.02 17:56:32 "SMTP: Connected to host")

followed by no other SMTP entries prior to this one:
2005.03.02 17:56:53 "SMTP: Disconnected from host")

Seems to indicate a time-out failure in connecting to your SMTP host. Open
a command line window and see if you can ping the SMTP server

C:\> ping yoursmtpserver

If you can do that, try telnetting to it:

C:\> telnet yoursmtpserver 25

If you get a response, enter QUIT. You've proven your PC can connect and I
don't have any suggestions at the moment, other than verifying your SMTP
settings. If you can't connect, contact your ISP. Perhaps they don't allow
port 25 connections and you have to use another port.

I've got the same problem. I can receive but cannot send emails from outlook.
I can however send and receive emails when I access my email account off the
net. Everthing was working just fine until three weeks ago. I tried system
restore, I've contacted my ISP, and I just payed for help desk support with
Dell. None of these have been successful. Any suggestions?

Me again. I am working with Microsoft Outlook 2003. I am having trouble
with port 25. I've tried to ping and telnet. I get no response. It just
times out. I've tried adding Outlook to my exceptions list, no luck. Has
anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

Try disabling any anti-virus, etc. programs that might be scanning your
outgoing mail. Make sure that any firewalls you have installed are
allowing connections on port 25.

Try disabling SSL for your outgoing connection, since the error message
you're getting indicates that it is the problem.

Jeff,

I have read through most of this string and nothing resolves this problem.
The most common connection I see is that people are using Outlook 2002 or
later and have XP SP2 or greater. I too have been having the same problem.
I even reformatting did not cure it. However, everything worked fine before
SP2. I have XP SP2 (I am biting my nails about upgrading to SP3) and
Outlook 2002. The email settings are correct for all of my accounts and can
send test messages on all. Anything else I try to send returns a "system
administrator" message which states the following:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: FW: Order Status Update
Sent: 3/8/2005 8:45 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 3/8/2005 8:45 PM
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts
(#5.7.1)

I have allowed port 25 and outlook in the firewall and disabled virus
scanning (I used Grisoft AVG Free edition 7.0 if that matters). The problem
is still there. There is nothing wrong with my servers. I have a small
email checker program that checks my emails and allows me to send messages
(text format only) and it works fine. In fact that program worked fine even
before I touched the firewall settings.

The problem is rooted somewhere between SP2 and Outlook. Can you please try
to find a resolution to this. It's getting frustrating having to go to small
email checker program to send a message.

Thank you.

I am having the same problem with Outlook express and one e-mail account..
The message received when I try to send a message is as follow:

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: '?????????.com', Server:
'smtp.?????????.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

where ??????? is the e-mail address that I do not want to post here.

I post a message in this newsgroup earlier:
(Windows 2000 server) and from Home (wireless network Linksys). One day I
was not able to send e-mails from one of my e-mails accounts from home but
it works from the office.
I have a Firewall Zone alarm at home with my wireless server.
Everything else works perfect but this account.
Any suggestions?
Your help will be very appreciated.<<<<<

But since this isn't an Outlook Express newsgroup, you wasted your time.
Ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup.

Most of the time, this error is caused by failure to properly authenticate
to the outgoing server.

Brian,

Thank for your gracious help....
But I could not find the outlook express newsgroup.
Do you have the address for it?
Since the problem is very similar to the one posted in this message and the
Outlook and outlook express, in my opinion, are some way related, I posted
the problem here.
But... thanks anyway.
