Windows Update Fails:
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.

I do thank you very much, however, I have tried all of
this. I have been speaking with Microsoft via email about
it. Nothing is working. I am having this problem on about
4 machines that I have recently installed. 1x 2003
Server, 1x 2000 Server, and 2 XP desktops.

If you can't get an answer from
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate ,
I doubt if you'll get a better one here.

The server is too busy right now: things will be back to normal in a couple
of days.
However, set the windows update (control panel) on automatic.
Leave your PCs on (if you have DSL connection) and they'll be updated
automatically.
