Hyperthreading

I have a HT ready MB running XP Pro SP1. I see 2 CPUs in
device manager but my Computer (In Device ManageR) shows
as a ACPI PC NOT a Multi-processor PC...

As such Task Manager only shows 1 CPU in the graph so I
am guessing HT is not installed correctly.

What is the problem/Fix ?

Your help is appreciated.

In Device Manager, Computer, the displayed type of PC equates
to the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) used. If you upgrade
from a non HT processor (ACPI computer) to a Hyperthreaded
processor you would have to do a repair install so that XP can use
the correct HAL.

I'm running a 3.2Ghz P4 with HT, and my Device mgr shows the same thing as
yours. But I think all is well, and HT is installed and operating
correctly.

Watch the screen when you boot - if HT is running. My bootup screen says
that as the bios starts up. Also, in Programs/Accessories/System
Tools/System Information, look to see if you have two processors listed. I
do.
