Hyperthreading problems

Hello

I would appreciate any help on this problem that I am having
Recently I've upgraded my computer from P3 to Asus P4C800 Deluxe I875P motherboard wit
Intel Pentium 4 2.8CGHZ 800FSB Socket 478 512K Hyperthreading CP

I am running WinXP Pr

I have enabled Hyperthreading in the BIOS, and when windows starts I see 2 CPUs in the device manager

But when I go into Task Manager, and go Performance tab, under the CPU Usage History, there is only 1 display for 1 CPU
I tried going into View->CPU History->There is only one choice there: One Graph Per CPU

From everything that I've read on Intel site, it should both show 2 CPUs in the Device Manager, and show 2 windows, 1 per CPU in the Task Manager, CPU Usage History

I have tried upgrading my HAL to multi-processor CPU from the device manager
At work I have XP and when I went to change the drive (just to see what's there) I saw the choice for multi-processor PC, but when I went home, and go to change the drive, I only see 2 drivers there, one is Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC (Which is what selected by XP by default
and a Standard PC driver. I don't see the multi-processory PC drivers at home as I do at work? Any ideas where I can get those drivers or any other solution to my problem without having to reinstall Windows

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated

Open Device Manager and expand Computer by clicking on the (+).
If "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" is not shown, you have the incorrect
HAL installed. The only way to correct this is to perform a "clean
install".

Microsoft does not recommend that you change the HAL that is installed during
the Windows XP Setup process. When you change from the ACPI HAL to the
Standard PC HAL, you must reinstall the operating system, and ACPI functionality
is lost.

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.
