Hyperthreading gets me random Stop errors

After trying to troublehsoot my constant stop errors (usually random), I
eventually disbaled hyperthreading in the BIOS. The computer is now stable.

I have Windows XP Home Edition and I can't use HT anymore without constant
random BSODs. What could be the conflict here? I have tried the Intely HT
Test Utility and they all a pass.

The folks will want to know what the random Stop error numbers were.
Also it could be the use of HT pushed the heat level over some peak
causing the problem.

Here are some of the erros logged in the Event Viewer:

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 e1d99645, parameter3
f32d3a70, parameter4 00000000.

Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 00000000, parameter3
ec7f6a74, parameter4 00000000.

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 23c432cc, parameter2 00000002, parameter3
00000000, parameter4 23c432cc.

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 33cc35ce, parameter2 00000002, parameter3
00000000, parameter4 33cc35ce.

Those are just a few but they're all Category (102).

My PC is 100% up-to-date in all aspects (SP2, patches, drivers, firmware,
security). Unless there's something specific I need to fix this. All these
errors stopped after disabling Hyperthreading, but when HT was enabled, the
errors came usually upon launching a program, or working in-between programs
and multi-tasking even a little bit.

My RAM and HDD have passed all tests too. I'm really upset about having to
turn HT off, I don't know why all those Stop errors came randomly with it.

Seems to point to either the driver or RAM timing issues, I would
suspect the later given your description. With HT turned on I suspect
the timing changes enough to cause and issue. Was XP installed with HT
disabled and then turned on after the fact?

Driver issues seem very unlikely, but I have my RAM timings set to what the
manufacturer has as default for my RAM. I've even tried my own and "Auto" in
the BIOS but nothing seems to help. Although it may be RAM timings and
volatges, I don't know what other settings to try. MemTest passed all tests.

HT was always on with XP's installation and I've never set it to off before.
I've also just done a rescent XP installation on a formatted HDD with full
updates and defragmentation but no help. By putting HT off on this new
installation (which is the installation I'm keeping now), the errors
disappear.

I don't know what link there is between HT and timings. I don't know what
other timigs to try. The defailt are 3-4-4-8, burst is set to 8, and DDR is
400 MHz. My RAM is Corsair XMS TwinX 1024-4000Pro.
