hello,
After noticing an instability in Mozilla 1.7.7 in new build of WinXP sp2, I
try to turn off HT in the Bios. The problem disappears! The Mozilla window
would stop responding, and the App error log shows hungapp, or Application
Hung.
System:
AOpen i865gm-IL board
Drive: WD2500JD 250 GB sata
Intel P4 3.0Ghz Prescott CPU with HT
512 RAM x2 by OZ
Generic DVD reader
Plextor CD R/W
I also dual boot a new build of SuSE 9.2 on the same drive and no such
instability occurs. Why is Mozilla misbehaving in WinXPsp2 with
hyperthreading? I know this mainboard+SATA figures into the equation, since
I have other WinXPsp2 installs with the same CPU, different mainboards, but
no problems.
regards,
