hyperlinks to .JPG files

Hi, I want to change IE as the default program to open .JPG files when using
hyperlinks to such file types. I would like to open .JPG files with Microsoft
Photo Gallery when Ctrl-click on hyperlink using Word-2007 or Power Point -
2007.
I appreciate your help.

This is an operating system setting. You need to change the file association
in Windows Explorer (My Computer or Computer).

This was already done. I defaulted .JPG extension files to be opened with
Microsoft Photo Gallery. I followed the below directions, but still the
hyperlinks uses Internet Explorer to open the file.
Directions:
Change the program that opens a type of file


Open the folder that contains the file you want to change.

Right-click the file that you want to change, and then, depending on the
type of file, either click Open With or point to Open With and then click
Choose Default Program.

Click the program that you want to use to open this file.

Do the following:

If you want all files of that type to open in the same software program,
select the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file check
box, and then click OK.


Should I restart my computer for the default to become a true default?

Restarting Windows would be a good test, as otherwise you've done everything
right, and some changes to the Registry are not enabled till the next time
you boot up.

Suzanne, it did not work. Although the icon shown thru Windows Explorer is
the one related to Widows Photo Gallery, when I Ctrl-Click on the Word
document hyperlink, it opens IE.

I was afraid of that. I think clicking on a link is a different action from
double-clicking on a file.
