Hello!
I am creating a presentation in PPT which i am trying to link to the company
intranet so that others can monitor my progress with the manual i am
producing. When i create a hyperlink to a word document which looks like
this:-

\\server\Company\Current Operations\New Operations Manual\Quality Assurance
Chapter\QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCESS - new.doc

it automatically changes after being saved and becomes this:-

/../Quality%20Assurance%20Chapter/QA%20GUIDANCE%20FOR%20TEAM%20LEADERS%20-%20Ennis.doc

and i am thus unable to access the link from the company intranet to the
specified file (which is saved from word onto the company shared drive).
Does anyone know if there is a way i can prevent the link from changing in
this way?
Thank you in advance!
Liz

Probably because it may exceed the path length criteria which is a max of 128
characters including spaces (which you should avoid if at all possible)

The %20s are html-encoded spaces and should do no harm.

As to the odd path truncation, the first thing I'd check is File, Properties, Summary
tab and have a look at "Hyperlink base". Delete whatever's in that and try adding the
link again.

Try this....

Tools, Options... General Tab.

Click on Web Options... then Files Tab.

Uncheck 'update links on save'
