I want to insert this link:

file://Cgys003/RTD/User_Manuals/baseline/Gas_Suite/HTML_Projects/GDO/Output/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=GDO&file=monitorr.htm

into powerpoint(2003), but it keeps getting turned into:

\\Cgys003\RTD\User_Manuals\baseline\Gas_Suite\HTML_Projects\GDO\Output\wwhelp\wwhimpl\common\html\wwhelp.htm?context=GDO&file=monitorr.htm

which doesn't work. How can I preserve the "file:" designation?

Thanks.

If you link to an html on the local file system (ie, your hard drive, attached
netweork drives etc) it doesn't need file://

Linking directly to the file most probably won't produce the same result as
linking to the same file as served from a web server because whatever the web
server does with ?context= and the rest, PowerPoint isn't going to do.
