Hyperlinking between Word documents?

Hello all.

Is it possible to link between Word documents, similar to HTML pages?

I'd like to break a large document up per section so multiple people can
work on it at one time (1 per section), but want to be able to link the
sections together across the documents.

A followup question, provided the above answer is "Yes" -- is it possible to
automatically adjust those inter-document links to intra-document links when
we merge the document back together for distribution?

Mmmm. Could you describe the purpose of "linking them together", please?
