Hyperlink to Word documents causes double-login

How can I prevent a double-login when clicking on a hyperlink to a Word
document. Basic Authentication is being used on the Intranet Website, and
this second login is totally bogus, as the only way to get past it is to
cancel it. This does not happen if we create the same link to a PDF version
of the Word document. We would like in some cases to link to a Word document
that has Fill-in fields.

Note: it is a client computer problem, not a FrontPage or web site
problem.

This case is a little different. We are getting the additional login at the
time the person clicks on the hyperlink. It happens to all clients regardless
of whether the registry has DontAddToMRUIfURL added.

Thomas - Thank you. You pointed us to the solution! We have many PC's still
running Office 2000, many without service packs, etc. A couple years ago we
made the decision to use PDF exclusively, just because of this problem. It's
nice to know we can now use native MS Office formats now, especially where
there is dynamic content.
