I have several public folders setup for use in Exchange Server. I would like
to hyperlink to them from a web page on our company intranet. Using the link
samples specified in KB225007, we are successful. The sample is :
<Outlook://Public Folders/All Public Folders/Foldername/~Itemname> However,
a new instance of Outlook is opened each time the link is used. How can we
open the requested folder without opening a new instance of Outlook if
Outlook is already running?

I don't think it's actually a new instance of Outlook. It should be the
same instance of Outlook, but a new window. You can check Task manager to
make sure, though.

You are correct. It is a new window (not a new instance). But, still I
would like to just switch to the existing open window and change to the
requested folder. This may not be possible. If not, users will open windows
at will and by the end of the day they may have multiple windows open to the
same folder. Just clutters up the task bar.

Why not add a shortcut to that folder to the Shortcuts list in the
Navigation Pane? Seems to work for me.
