Hyperlink to file (PDF)

I have been using Frontpage for sometime, and recently I have tried to create
a link to a PDF file not within the web. I have many others that are
currently working. When typing "file://server/name.pdf" it keeps reverting
to "http:\\blah". All other links to PDF's are working, only when I try to
add new ones. Can someone explain what may have changed.

You might need to add the HTML webbot component so that Frontpage won't
change the path. It thinks it knows the path:
<!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->file://server/name.pdf<!--webbot
bot="HTMLMarkup" endspan -->

Have you tried to just use a virtual path instead?
