Hyperlink hell

Hello,

I have an excel2000 work book with numerous worksheets. On eac
worksheet I have one column dedicated to hyperlinked jpgs which resid
on the local drive. The hyperlinks worked great, but the images wer
opened up in Microsoft Picture Editor even though the jpgs ar
associated with Irfanview. I never use Picture Editor it and woul
prefer that the jpgs open up in Irfanview (or some other viewer if th
workbook is shared with another user that may not have Picture Edito
installed.). So I uninstalled Picture Editor and now the hyperlink
are broken (figures) even though the hyperlink is explicit i
(C:\AmlampGIS\TIL-PAT\LAP\FieldPhotos\LAP04345-16754.jpg) . Now
couple of other jpgs in the root or other folders of C:\AmlampGIS ope
up. What happened?? How to fix? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Joh

Try this.
Find one of the pictures on your hard drive that is supposed to be linked to
your workbook. Right click it and choose Properties to see what program is
associated with the file to open it. If it is Picture Editor, right click on
the file again and choose Open With and change the association.

Ron,

Thank you for the response. I checked the file association and jpg
are associated with Irfanview. So that I not the problem. But I hav
worked out a solution that is better I think. I have used th
=Hyperlink function instead of inserting the hyperlink from the menus.
It was pretty easy to do a replace to insert the function into th
cells. This way, if the location of the jpgs changes a wholesal
search and replace can be done.

Cheers,
Joh
