Huge Traffic to the extent of 100MB

M

Manish

Dear All,

After i connect to internet via DSL Modem i notice heavy
inbound and outbound traffic sometimes to the extent of
100MB - maybe i use it to the extent of 4 MB. I am paying
my ISP for traffic! After I have down loaded Microsoft
AntiSpy this is curtailed (Three Cheers to Microsoft!!!).
Why? What is going on!! Should i leave the machine on for
2 days and let him finish taking whatever he likes or this
is likely to go on. Formatting the system does not help.
It happens within minutes of connecting. I have windows
2000 Server - Symantec Anti Viru Corporate Edition. Any
advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks and Best Regards

It sounds like your computer sys has been hijacked and is
being used by an outside source.

Install Hijackthis and then post the scan log in the Tom
Coyote forum or send to Ron Kinner.

Also check posts by Ron Kinner and Plun in this newsgroup
for additional info.

Anyone got anything else to help?

You find Tom Coyote and other ASAP forum with this.

For younger users this is natural places to ask for help.

I also really like this site with excellent advices,
everything is like my own experiences to deal with malware.

And run a full system scan in safe mode, on the Scan Page choose Scan
Options > Full System Scan.
