http prefix

upon returning to my pc I have found that everytime I type
an address i.e. www.hotmail.com my browser is redirected
to an another site. However if I use
http://www.hotmail.com the redirect does not occur. I
presume someting has altered my prefix setting, but I do
not know how to change it back. Help required, thanks,

try downloading spybot here and see if some site has hijacked your browser.
