http or https

Hi! Good morning where is morning!

I am running Windows XP home edition.My internet connection is good.
I have IE 6.0 but after a cleaning of the disk i can only open pages
initiated by https (i think with SSL safety protocol) like www.cgd.pt and
other banks!
I can not get to any other web site, i.e GOOGLE or CNN.comm like this sites
start with http. (always receive the message that is impssible to connect the
serveur)
If anyone has any idea of what might be causing this, any input will be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Maurini,

First thought: you do enter https:// for a secure site, and just the name
of the website for the others. If www.website.com doesn't work and
http://www.website.com, the http:// prefix might be damaged. See
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/popprefix.htm for details.

Hi Murini,
Try this first , Open your IE properties and Click on the Advanced Tab,
Scroll Under Browsing Options and Select this under HTTP 1.1:
[ ] Use HTTP 1.1 is selected
[ ] Use HTPP1.1 through a proxy do not select that
Clear your Caches and Internet Files and Cookies Reboot and see if tht
