HTTP 404

When I try to email a document through my hotmail account I receive a "The
page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable." the reference at the
bottom of the message says "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found."

I can send from my desktop but this is a new computer and it doesn't seem to
be configured for this. What do I need to do?

Same thing is happening to me. I found a "work-around" until someone
finds an answer. It looks like hotmail changed their url to
hotmail.msn.com
When you see the "page cannot be found" go to the top and change
hotmail.com to hotmail.msn.com (leave the other stuff alone.) Click on
"go" and it should open up your hotmail account (or ask you for your ID
and password.

I'm stumped too.

Perhaps someone will let us BOTH know how to fix this error.
HINT: Wish MSN would let users know when changes like this come about!

This did not work so well for me -- I'm still getting the error. Your patch
got me through, but only once. After that I got the same error message. It's
really frustrating, especially since I was able to email from Word via
hotmail until recently. Maybe someone at the "source" (aka Microsoft) can
explain (a) what they did, (b) why they did it (c) why the change was not
sent to their myriad users (d) why they didn't create a proper patch.

There is another query strain on the 404 error but unrelated directly to
email so our problem is not unique.

Hello, Microsoft. Anybody listening?

Did you try adding the string to the registry?

Oh, I tried to email hotmail help, MSN help, Microsoft, etc., but I
never got a response. What happened, I believe, is that they changed
servers. Once was hotmail.com is now hotmail.msn.com
This changed everything. I don't think "they" realized what a problem
it created.

Let me know.
