htmlmarq.ocx Unable to register itself in System Registry - Setup incomplete

Reinstalling MS WORD97 after crash I get the above message.
It recommends running setup again but the same thing occurs..
When I try to view html source in Word nothing happens.
How can I clean the System Registry.
I tried totally removing WORD and in fact the whole Office suite and
re-installing but the same message appears..
