HTML emails and Outlook 2000

I have just transferred to Outlook 2000. On my colleague's computer with the
same version he can view all his sent items and inbox items in HTML as they
were sent. In mine all the sent items and inbox items - regardless of how
they were sent - are in plain text. I tried everything and even asked our
computer support company to assist but they say its a feature of outlook
2000. It can't be, my colleague is on 2000 and his are in HTML! Please
help, I keep sending bold and italic in my emails and they keep appearing in
my sent items plain! Its driving me crazy!

Thanks

Outlook uses the libraries from Internet Explorer to render
HTML-formatted e-mails. Did you remove IE?

Check the registry under the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options\Mail

(yours might have "9.0" in place of "10.0" since I'm using Outlook
2002). Look for the following data item:

READASPLAIN

If it is set to 1, all e-mails are read in plain-text mode. Maybe you
used some utility to change that setting.

To the best of my knowledge, that key doesn't exist for Outlook 2000.

No, it was introduced in Outlook 2002. Definitely not there in Outlook 2000.

Yep, http://support.microsoft.com/?id=307594 only lists it for Outlook
2002/XP. Oh well. So, any ideas why the OP is getting his HTML e-mail
filtered so they are only plain text? I suppose he could try using
Outlook Express to see if he actually got his HTML e-mails okay (i.e.,
nothing upstream of the e-mail client doing some filtering).

Has anyone ever come up with a satisfactory reply to this problem? Someone
just told me today they're experiencing the same issue. They were able to
view HTML in Outlook 2000 until recently, now everything is plain text and
links only.

Thanks!
