HP21 ink level reset procedure?

I refill my cartridges. I have had no problems resetting the software ink
level with the HP 56 and 57 cartridges, but the same procedure on the hp 21
(even though it looks identical) does not work. Has anyone successfully
reset the ink level on this cartridge?

If you have some junker or spare cartridges just swap them into the
printer. Most HP printers can only remember two cartridges so if you
install two junkers and then your refilled one it will think the
refilled one is new.
