HP Toolbox and Print Server

I currently have an HP 970cxi connected to my PC via USB and I share
it across my home network so that my son can also use it. This works
fine except of course, my PC has to be on for him to use it.

If I connect the printer to a network print server, does the HP
Toolbox still work? Also, does the printer auto-power up when a print
job is sent to it if I connect it via a print server?

Thanks,

Pete

Just for info for anyone else:-

I bought an HP Jetdirect 170X print server. It works fine except the
printer doesn't always auto-powerup (always does from MSWord, but not
from Outlook Express). I'll need to investigate this further.

The ink level monitor does not work via the print server. HP support
said that this will not work because the toolbox program needs to
establish two-way communication with the printer and this can't be
done via a print server.

(I will try connecting the printer via the parallel port to the print
server and to my PC via the USB cable at the same time to see if that
works. I'm not sure the printer will like having both connections
active though).
