I need to reset my system back to the HP NEW factory settings. (Windows XP)
My PC did not come with a disc, but instead the ability to do a factory
recovery from a resident backup on the D drive.

I have a lethal trojan on here and that is why I need to restore the system.

This thing I believe has somehow blocked me from doing any restores, backup,
etc.

I am stuck at this point.

HP Pavilions that ship with Microsoft Windows XP do
not come with Recovery CDs. Instead, they use a hidden
space (partition) on the hard drive to store the recovery
information.

Read the following article thoroughly, then follow
the steps outlined to perform a "non-destructive"
recovery operation.

If a "non-destructive" recovery will not work, then you'll have
to resort to a "destructive recovery" which will reformat the
drive, thus wiping it clean of all files before Windows XP is
reinstalled.

When you first turn the computer on the first screen that comes up should
say F10 for system recovery. Hit F10 at that first screen. After it loads
the recovery screen click advanced options and pick destructive recovery.
