i am very new to networking and this may be a stupid question so here goes.
i have set up a home network using a rangemax adsl modem wireless router. i
have 3 desktop xp pcs wired to the router and a vista laptop connected
wirelessly.
the network is running perfectly. more luck than judgement i think. i have a
hp psc 1317 all in one printer connected to one desktop via a usb connection.
is it possible to print from the other computers via the network on this
printer. the drivers on the hp site say no network support

Some HP printers do not support network printing. In some cases, you may get it
to print, but not reliably. In other cases, it will never print. And HP
Support won't be able to help you.

For the price of 2 or 3 printer cartridges, you can buy a new, network ready
printer. In that case, you would be better off doing that, and saving this
printer as a backup or giving it away.

We've got an HP 1210 PSC connected to one computer on the LAN. Printing on
it from the other computers, going through the host computer, hasn't been a
problem. What can't be done is hooking it directly to the LAN. Set up
sharing for the printer on the computer it is hooked up to. When it's turned
on the other LAN computers should be able to see it and install drivers for
it.

Windows XP PCs/laptops all running on a shared home network. Set up hp psc
2200 printer connected to one of the PCs for sharing. When attempting to
connect one of the PCs(laptops) to a printer, which I can see using browsing,
I get an error message (Error: The printer name is not valid). Tried
renaming. Current name "HP2200". Highlight the "browsed" printer and click
Next, I get the error; "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the
printer name was typed incorrectly or the specified printer has lost its
connection to the server. For more information, click help".
