HP PSC 500

I'm running windows xp and have a hp psc 500, when I insert the installation
disk, a dialogue box pops up saying that it's not supported for windows 2000.
it's worked in the past and now the computer can't find anything connected
to it and the scanner says it cannot connect with pc. any suggestions would
be great

I've been successfully running my PSC500 with XP for a couple of years. Do
not install any software from the HP disc. XP has its own native drivers
for the PSC500, and they work just fine. Trying to install drivers from the
HP cd will definitely not work. Remove all HP software, and let windows
detect the device. Windows will install the native drivers, and everything
should work great.
