hp psc 2210v

Am running XP HE, with a cable connection. Have an
answering mach. Have one phone line with distinctive ring
service but a separate fax number. Have an hp psc 2210v
all in one. Just recently, fax started not sending or
receiving. Also, when the land line telephone rings, the
fax has mistakenly änswered"those calls instead of
listening for a fax tone or voice tones and acting
accordingly as indicated in the hp manual. After calling
hp support, I was told xp is not compatible with this
older psc 2210v. Can this be true?? My less than two yrs
old printer/fax/copier is obsolete with my OS??
Why then, till just recently, was everything working just
fine??
Oh yeah, I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling with no
success. TIA!!

Windows XP is not capable of distinctive ring.....it the hardware device and
its particular software that does this feature in XP. If your device does
not have drivers that support the feature, it will not work.
