HP printer problem after SP2 Upgrade

Upgraded to SP2 and initially thought all was OK. Problem appeared when I
tried to print something to HP OfficeJet Pro 1170C - an all in one device;

In Word, Outlook, Excel etc everything prints fine, but when I try to print
from Internet Explorer, get a message saying "document failed to print." and
printer/all in one device locks up. The only way around getting printer to
function again is to reboot. Have checked BIOS for ECP settings (all OK),
found a lot but nothing on HP website to assist resolving this.

There is obviously a disconnect/mismatch somewhere between the HP Printer
and Internet Explorer caused by the SP2 upgrade!?

This all in one device had functioned perfectly for years prior to SP2.
Maybe the Windows driver has been corrupted in the upgrade? The concern is
NOT to install an HP driver as they clearly state that the windows XP driver
is better!! See the following for info

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...t=57596&lang=en&cc=us&docname=bpu01862#N1047B

Any suggestions, or can I/should I re-install the Windows XP driver for
this device?

If so, where do I find it, and how do I install it? Is it the pre SP2
driver, or is there is different SP2 driver?

Thanks

When you do a major OS upgrade you often have to upgrade drivers and
such to get along with the new version of Windows you now want to run.
This has always been the case.
