HP Print server - Epson Dot Matrix Printer

I recently purchased a HP 500X print server. This is a 3 port print
server. I had the print server connected to 1 each Epson LQ 870 and
and 2170 dot matrix printers. I have having some very difficult times
trying to print to the dot matrix printers on the 2nd port. The
printers are connected with the old simple centronics printer cable.
My question is will these printers work with this print server? Does
the cable to to be something better than a plain centronics print
cable? Any help would be appreciated.

Look at your computer's BIOS settings. It will have an option for the
printer port giving options like Standard, EPP and ECP or something
similar. Set this to standard and retry. The enhanced port setting
should be backwards compatible with standard peripherals and cables, but
you might have encountered an exception.
