HP Pavilion A1230n ...Athlon 64 2.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 200GB HDD, XP Media
Center stalls at splash Screen... Ok it is not a home built ... but
far worst.

Other then the above I have no idea what is in the box. ... Yes an
Athlon 64 ... but which one .. what is its pin out.

All this aside for the moment this computer stalls at the HP splash
screen ... no beeps nothing. I have reset the cmos ... no joy

It will not load the bios or boot to safe mode.

I suspect the power supply .. but I may be getting a head of my self.

So I need some idea where to proceed from here.

Thanks

Always a good place to start David.
You can buy cheap little voltage test meters nowadays.
Get one.
Check your 5/12v, and you`re halfway home.

Thanks for your reply

So far I know what it is not:

power supply ... swaped it out ...no change
PCI cards usb and and modem removed .. no change
CD /DVD drives ... disconnected ... no change
external devices disconnected ... no change

So all that is left is the hard drive ?

Thanks

David
