HP P1100 Photosmart, disable card slot??

Frank Pulsucki Jr.

I have a HP P1100 Photosmart printer that works great in WinXP Pro but I
need to disable the card readers in WinXP. Can this be done as I have a USB
2.0 memory card reader that is much faster and I have trouble with the
computer "losing" the card reader and then I cannot print until I reboot.
Is there a setting or other printer driver that will do what I want? I seem
to remember that originally WinXP had no drivers for this and you used a
DeskJet driver that printed fine it just would not be able to save or read
to the card slots which would be fine!

Anyone know??

You can find the Photosmart's reader portions of the printer in Device
Manager and disable them (I believe there will be at least one drive. You
should also be able to trace things by connection to find what needs to be
disabled). When I had my P1100, I did so and everything was fine (but I
don't remember all the details anymore).
