HP Laserjet III 13 paper jam not roller

B

To fix the common 13 paper jam I bought and installed new roller and
separation pad but still got 13 paper jam (I found the old pad and roller
are not very much worn).

To see what's happening, I put the paper tray in but without the the tray
cover so I could see the roller with the aid of a flash light. When it's
about the time to feed the paper, I could hear clicking in the printer but
the roller did not turn, and then error 13 was on the panel. Do you have any
idea what might be wrong? Thank you.

Sounds to me like the pickup roller assembly may have a dirty or broken spring clutch on
it, or the solenoid on the back side of the DC Power supply is either not releasing the
pickup roller clutch, or may be broken. Feel free to email me about the problem.
I serviced over 300 HP3's on a contract for 5 or more years. There's not a peoblem I have
not seen before. If its of any consolation, Chances of the problem being electronic are
almost nil. HP3's had very reliable electronics.

it is the nylon gear on the inside of the printer the one that drives
the input rollers it is common in that model.

The nylon gears in most any HP laser can get stripped by not very careful
removal of paper when a paper jam occurs... Ben Myers

It's probably the clutch that drives the roller. I can't remember if this
one can be disassembled and cleaned or not.
