HP Laserjet 4L

Have upgraded my computer from ME to XP Pro. Up graded
the drivers on my HP laserjet 4L. When I try to print,
the lights on the 4L flash but nothing prints, there is
also nothing in the print queue.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. Sorry for repetition from previous
post but I did not mention the lights flashing in last
post.

I can vouch that the 4L works just fine in XP, using drivers that XP
provides. I never had to download any drivers for mine when I put XP,
clean install, onto my box. In fact, I just printed about 10 pages a
few minutes ago.

Must be a problem with your configuration.

Parallel? USB?

The 4L I use is Parallel only. Check your configuration and if it is correct
try to roll back the driver to the one provided by Microsoft.

The HP 4L is an old printer. I do not believe that HP has made a XP driver
for it. You should be using the XP included drivers.

It certainly is true that the 4L has been around for quite a while! Mine is
about 10 years old and is still functionally as good as new. The interface
on mine is parallel and it was recognized and installed automatically when I
set up XP two years ago. I did not install any of the old HP software and I
don't miss it.
