HP Laserjet 4 plus problem

Hi,

The HP laserjet 4 plus I have is having a very light printout problem. I
thought it was cartridge low and replaced one. The first printer test
printpout was normal and it is now doing the same thing again.
The print of whole page is very light and evenly light.
Wondering if there is something else causing this?
Thanks for your input.

Hi Harry,
Could be one of two things. It could be that the scanner wants
cleaning or that the transfer roller wants changing.

Try the scanner first

1) Check to see if you have it set to Economode (in the control
panel).

2) Check to see what the toner density is set to. The range is 1 to 5,
1 being the lightest and 5 being the darkest. The default is 3, but
some cartridges (especially remanufactured ones) require a different
setting. Don't set it any higher than you need to, as the darker you
set it the more of your expensive toner it will consume.

3) Some remanufactured cartridges run light at first and darken up
after a few hundred pages. Then they are usually fine for the rest of
the life of the cartridge. However, some run light for the first few
hundred pages every time you turn the printer on.

Or he could change the print density, a LOT easier than cleaning the
scanner mirror
