HP Laser Jet 6L not compatible with Windows XP

I have no idea how to make this USB paralell/USB
interconverter I bought work. I have a laptop with only a
USB port so I had to get a paralell/USB port
interconverter (HP printer is paralell). I loaded all new
drivers for HP laserjet 6L. Still isn't printing.
Any suggestions?

From the printer properties, select the Ports tab. See if there is a
listing for the convertor port.
