HP Insert Colour cartridge

Officejet 725c, Colour cart 51649.
Printer won't do anything, gives variously Insert or Re-insert colour cart.
Don't need colour, how to hotwire cart to allow other functions to be used ?

Sorry, I do not believe this is practical. I am unaware of any procedure that
will achieve this.
I am assuming the colour cartridge is empty.
In that case you could try buying a really cheap compatible since you don't use
colour and the results are therefore unimportant, or a refilled one, or refill
it yourself.
If the cartridge is not empty then try cleaning the contacts on the back of the
cartridge.
BTW some newer HP inkjets are quite happy to operate with one cartridge missing
but not this series.
