HP CLJ 9500 vs. XEROX Phaser 7750

Hello!

I am looking for a high quality color laser printer for business
and cannot find in depth review/comparison of HP 9500 and XEROX 7750.

The color laser I have to buy needs to have a top quality print for
printing complex and very color intensive graphics used as high
quality promotional color material and it needs to have as lower as
possible cost / per page ratio because of a high volume of those materials.

Since I have not yet own such a high class printer there are some
uclearities to me in the area of supply materials.

Both printers have color catridges / drums which give a number a pages
at 5% coverage of letter or A4 format which is clear to me.

But there is something new to me and both printers have them and i don't
know what those are and how to include them into the cost calculation.
Both printers have: FUSER, TRANSFER KIT and CLEANING/WASTE kit and those
also give a certain number of pages per 5% coverage.
Can anybody please explain me what those are and how necessary they are?

1. Since I am new in this area can anybody review those printers or tell
me where I can find a neutral review?
2. Since I never worked with such printers I would be grateful is somebody
could show me a price calculation for some percent of coverage including
both toners/drums and other materials such as FUSER, TRANSFER KIT and
CLEANER/WASTE kit?

Thank you!

Sincerely yours,

Hello,

I´m using the HP CLJ 9500N. Here a few points that led to my decision:

1. Quality: I´ve never seen a better (Color Laser) Output than the
prints from the 9500. The 8-Bit Contone Mode produces very fine images
and compared to other color lasers like the Minolta 7300 or Aculaser
C4000 (maybe not fair, because especially the Aculaser is a A4 Color
Laser for SOHO market) there are almost no stripes in full color
segments. Text Quality is as good as from a B/W Laser, you can tell the
printer to use only the black Toner for text, graphic or photos (only
for photos I told the printer to create black from the color toner).

2. Running Costs: Compared to other A3 Color Laser Printers (for example
the Minolta 7300): Very low, 22.000 pages at 5% coverage is quite good.
Drums last for about 40.000 pages (it is better to print fewer large
jobs insted of many little jobs).
Of course there are other consumables, but they last quite long and are
sold for a reasonable price. I think that it will be hard to find an A3
Color Laser that will produce cheaper full color prints. The
5500N/DN/HDN would be more expensive for example (I haven´t looked after
the XEROX Phaser 7750 yet).

3. Speed: Speed is just fine, I can´t complain. There will be faster
Color Lasers on the market but compared to the quality, speed is really
great. The 24ppm can be easily reached with copys of one page, or text
pages.

I would buy the 9500N again, but be aware that such a printer needs to
print and print and print. Low usage isn´t good for that kind of
printers and decrease lifetime of consumables.

best regards

Denis
