Hi
Just formatted XP Pro, which I have done many times but this time the
printer which I have had a long time will not work, it does on my sons XP
Pro, I went into hardware and in the ports it only has comm 1, no Ltp port,
my son has both com 1 and LPT 1, any idea where its gone.
When I add printer it shows up in control panel but comes up error when try
to print, I can only assume this is because I have lost LPT 1

After you installed Windows, did you then install all the drivers for your
hardware? This includes your motherboard (chipset). If you didn't do this,
that's your next step. See below for general drivers information:

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor or System Information for Windows.

Hi

I just remembered that I flashed the bios, again which I have done before,
and for some reason it knocked the LPT port out, went in, set it and
everything is ok

Glad to hear you got things sorted. Thanks for updating the thread.
