HP 2600n Laser printer?

Hiya :)

I am embarking on buying another printer, specially since this stupid
Epson C42 has never worked well since having it.

I was considering a cheap laser and saw the specs for the 2600n.
Does anyone have experience of this printer and it's capabilities
regarding colour photo printing? Does it produce good photo prints etc?

And the toner cartridges: can they be got cheap?

Thanks for any help, ..or good humoured answers :))

Cheers...

You may be better off finding a Business Inkjet 1200d.

The 2600n is over twice as expensive to run as the business inkjet.
Unless someone else can help you find toner refills or aftermarket
carts, HP's lower end color lasers are not worth the price unless you
specifically need the laser output.

For the occasional color print, I am happy with the 2600n. The quality
is good, especially for a printer that sits for days on end without
printing anything. Yes, the replacement carts are high, but I get over a
thousand prints with it. I do have a companion mono laserjet, (which
cost me about a hundred bucks) and it's carts seem to last forever. I
use it for all my text printing. This setup works well for me.

Ok,

Thanks for the replies guys.

The fact that the 2600n gives a good colour print is a start. I'll
consdider the toner replacement costs when I find them. :)

As for the Business Inkjet 1200d; I just feel I need to get away from
the inkjet tech'. Non the less I will look into it as a possible
replacement?

Thanks again...

In general, the color and black and white laser market has succumbed to
the same business model used with inkjet printers, the LEM ink source is
costly, often more than the cost of the whole printer, should you
replace them all.

Always check the yield the cartridges claim, and remember that's usually
5% coverage per color, or very little color per page.

In general, even a "cheap" but properly functioning inkjet printer will
provide a better print quality than color laser printers, especially
inexpensive ones.

You might want to consider a Canon low to middle end inkjet printer. In
general, the loweest priced models are more costly to run due to the
cost of the cartridges.

If you want color photo printing, HP CLJ 2605 is recommended! The lis
price of 2605 is same as 2600n. The difference is 2605 offer
PostScript printing language and 64 MB memory meanwhile the tone
also is different. 2600n is for document printing and 16 MB memory i
too small for printing high resolution image

Hi,

You may want to look at the HP K550 printer. The TCO is less than the
HP 2600 and should produce better photo prints.

I have heard nothing but headaches with the HP 2600. Toner spilling
into the printer, early low toner warnings...etc.

Not sure if I want a laser now? Ink cartridge is cheaper per page? Wow!

Thanks for the tips,
