hp 2300c

I am having trouble using my HP 2300C scanner with XP. It
hangs on the warming up lamp screen (no previes, etc). The
scanner has done this from day one. Any ideas on how to
get this thing running. (My computer meets all requiremtns
and there are no conflicts)
