Howw do I remove SQL query from .doc?

When I open some of my docs, I am presented with "Opening will run SQL
query....."

Since I am not using the particular document, I want to remove the SQL query
from the .doc.

Does anyone know how to do this? It must be hidden somewhere in the file.

Have you tried saying no? This unlinks your mail merge main document from

Thanks for your reply, Suzanne. Clicking "No" in the dialog box just closes
the document but does not actually remove the query.

I do not want to disable the warning as the article you cited recommends. I
want to remove the actual SQL query from the document itself.

Can it be done?

When I choose no, my document opens anyway, but without a connection to the
mail merge data source. I would suggest, however, that you open the document
(say yes), then, on the Mail Merge toolbar, click the far left button (Main
Document Setup) and choose "Normal Word document." This should break the
connection with the data source. If you want to continue to use this as a
mail merge main document, however, you have no choice but to answer the
message.

I opened .doc, answered yes, went to Main Document setup and chose normal
word document. I closed and saved file.

Opened it again, received same dialog about SQL query, went back to Main
Document setup and it showed normal word document! Apparently doen't work.

I this process in the KB now that I know the proper term: Main Document
setup. Still, this process is not working for me. I've tried about 5 times so
I don't think it is my ability to follow directions.

Is there codes which can be stripped out?

I suppose you could remove the merge fields, but it's possible there's
something more going on here. I don't get that message if I convert a mail
merge main document to a normal Word document.

There are no merge fields in the doc.

If there are no merge fields, then I don't understand why you're getting the
message in the first place. Are there IncludeText fields?

I'm sorry, but if you quoted the error message correctly (“Opening this will
run the following SQL commandâ€), there is no indication of anything that
would cause this message except merge fields. AFAICS, SQL queries are
associated only with mail merge.

Okay. I'm on dialup, so if you can extract a very small sample (one page)
that still exhibits the problem, that would be helpful.
