There's a screw loose on the door to a cabinet in my kitchen. But
it's a Phillips-head screw. Can I use a regular big rock or do I
need a Phillips-head big rock?

I bought an ex army radio for $1 or something when I was 16. To get access to the valves I needed to break a part of the case. But smashing was soo much fun I reduced this metal radio to fine particles overnight. My neighbours complained the next day about the hours of hammering.

If you don't have a hammer I'd use a screwdriver. Hold it by the metal end and bash the screw with the handle. That's why they are called screwdrivers because thay can be used as hammers on screws.

Inspired by your posts, I just went out and bought a new hammer for $1
at the Dollar Tree store. I also got a pair of pliers there for $1. I've
used pliers to tear into things, too. A combination of a hammer, pliers
and a screwdriver can just about get into anything, but I still like a
big rock for those tough to solve problems.

The only thing is, I don't know how XP will run on the machine. It
has a Celeron 766 with 320 MB of RAM, a 10GB hard drive and Intel 810
onboard graphics (although I have the option of a Trident 9440 PCI
graphics card if I want it).

So, what does the group think - will XP run like a dog or is it worth
the upgrade

Speedwise, it'll be about as fast as 98. *Maybe* even a little faster.

The only thing that may be of the most concern is the hard disk space.
It'll fit, but you won't have alot of room for much else (after you get
a few applications installed). The good news is that you can get a
cheap 40gb drive for REALLY cheap.
