How turn off Auto Updates of Application - Corel Photo

Corel is generating many entries in Event Viewer, which may be triggering the
Dial-up to my ISP. Is there a generic way to turn off an application's auto
updates?

There is an option within the program itself to not update. That's the
best place to start.

If you still can't find the option, post in the Corel user newsgroup:

Malke Thanks very much.

Paint Shop Pro and Corel Photo Album include an Auto Update feature that
uses the InstallShield Update Service. Both products utilize a custom version
of the update service that when installed, attempts to register itself with
the Windows Installer and InstallShield Update services (ISUS). Due to a
problem with ISUS the custom update service installed with Paint Shop Pro and
Corel Photo Album fails to register with the Windows Installer Service.
Although, application events are logged for registration failure, both
programs function without issue, including the Auto Update feature. This
problem has been reported to Product Development.

Is Msft fixing ISUS?

Thanks again.

I don't know why you couldn't get to Corel's newsgroup but here's a link
to their webpage about it:

Since you're not writing to MS here and I don't work for them, I can't
answer any questions about what the company intends to do. I would think
that Corel would be the one to fix their program.

In any case, you can disable ISUS by using the System Configuration Utility:

Start>Run>msconfig [enter]

This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab
and find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply
and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you
do you'll get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box
that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

Important - Do not use the System Configuration Utility to stop
processes. Instead, use Start>Run>services.msc [enter]

Malke,
Your suggestion is appreciated and I'll try it.
Your generosity in attending to the NG is great!
