Tomas,

Tons of links. Just use a search engine for "install Windows". Here are some
results:

[How to install or upgrade to Windows XP]
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941/en-us

[Clean install Windows XP]

NOTE: that now-a-days it is terribly important to protect yourself. A
pre-SP2 (Service Pack 2) copy of Windows is vulnerable immediately upon
connection to the Internet and could be compromised BEFORE you have the
updates downloaded. You would be well advised to get a copy of Window XP Pro
with already SP2 included, or to get the full "network" copy of SP2 and
apply it to the pre-SP2 version of Windows XP Pro *before* connecting to the
Internet. You can downlad the full "network" version of SP2 from Microsoft
or order it on CD-ROM from Microsoft at no charge.

Hi!, Thankx for all, in fact i did search in google for "how to install
Windows" i had found some links but they explained it a bit complicated,
expecially the part about how to create two partitions was not clear to me
how to do, ill check these links. Regarding the sp2 and other patches, my CD
of Windows XP has Sp1 in it but i have the SP2 in another CD so i will
install it and all other patches before connecting, Thank you!

Just a question, i did reinstalled Windows XP before but then i didn´t have
to create any new partition since that hdrive had already two, my question,
since this new harddrive is quite unpartitioned if i want to have two
different partitions in my harddrive and install WXP in one should i create
these two partitions as part of the WXP Installation process?, I notice there
is an option in the installation process which says: " To create a partition
in the unpartitioned space, press C" but none of the links seems to care
about it, instead they suggest to press Enter to simply create one partition
and install, Help appreciated, Thank you!

Yes, You can partition you drive during the installation of windows. It is
not mentioned much since the average user does not need more than one
partition and the average computer hard drive us comparatively small.

I received my first PC with a 40GB hd with two partitions, i think it´s
useful to have two partitions specially to be able to defragment each of them
separately and save time. besides this, do you know if having two partitions
is a good or a bad thing for a harddrive´s performance and care?

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Having one partition for the OS and programs and a second one for data
is a good setup. That way the data can be backed up separately, and if
the the OS gets bunged up the data requiring a reinstall the data is
still available.
