Can someone tell me how to nstall Windows XP Professional on a PC with
Windows 2000 Professional installed ??

I bought a second hand PC with the Windows 2000 Professional installed.

To answer your question correctly can you tell us which type of XP Pro do you have. Is it a Upgrade version a Retail version or a OEM version.

Yes you can Upgrade W2K to XP Pro. But on how to go about it depends on which type of XP Pro version you have as per my question above.

You need to use a full, retail XP Pro disk or an XP Pro upgrade. Do
not use an OEM disk, it won't perform an upgrade.

If your Windows XP is a retail or volume license version then you can
just install it as an upgrade over the existing Windows 2000.

If your Windows XP is an OEM version then you need to do a clean
install as per http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

As you have no way of knowing just what sort of viruses, spyware, or
other crud might be lurking on the used computer I would advise you to
consider doing a clean install regardless of which type of Windows XP
you have.
