how to write on a picture in word?

i'm in word with a modified pic trying to make a background, a shadow, and
cannot write on it. How to do that?Help!!!

When you say 'trying to make a background', do you want the picture in the
background of the document so you can type over the front of it? If so, you
would have to insert the picture as a watermark. Does this help?
