It does not come with the cd and also mentioned in the box that it does not
need the driver.Brand "Tulip' OpticAL mouse with other box markings such as
"PCLMAC.PS/2.USB.U+P (whatever all these means. Will work thru some of the
other response and hopefully can get it working, TIA

Many thanks and still trying to figure it out. One thing I dont understand is
why does the xp call for the driver when usb kb does not need a driver. Is
there any difference between a ordinary usb mouse and a usb optical mouse?

All hardware needs to have drivers so that the operating system can use
the hardware. XP has a lot of basic drivers included in it so a lot of
standard hardware "just works". If you have specialized hardware (like
a special optical mouse or keyboard), then XP will not have the drivers
included and you need to install drivers provided by the device mftr.

The other ports probably spoilt and managed to get it going using the front
usb ports by using another usb mouse. However, what is strange is after I get
that going and able to do some work (microsoft applications) and I shut down
and boot up.

This time, the pc cannot get to desktop. It will keep rebooting. The xp logo
will come up and the led light goes from left to right repeatedly and then it
reboot. It kind of a loop What is causing this problem as nothing has changed
and not even moving the pc. Please help..... one problem after another, Thanks
