How to use a different style than "Inhopg<x>" in a TOC?

I have several TOC's in my document, which works very well.
All the TOC's are related to Inhopg1,Inhopg2,.....
I want to use a different style for another TOC, let's say
New_Inhopg1,New_Inhopg2,...
Everytime when I refresh the TOC's the initial styles are used again.
I looked at the switches of the TOC-field, but I can't see any solution.
Can someone help me, please?

When you create the new TOC, via Insert, Reference, Index and Tables, Table
of Contents tab, click on the Options button, this will give you the Style
listing and you can now select/deselect the styles you wish/not wish to have
displayed in this particular TOC.
When you OK, Word will probably select another TOC and ask if you want to
replace it with the new one, press No, and you will get the new TOC where
your cursor was in the document.

This is not my problem.
I already generated TOC's with other styles.
I want to change the style of the TOC itself! I want that the generated TOC
will use another style(which I create/select) but Inhopg1.....Inhopg9.
In the dialog box I can only choose Inhopg1 till Inhopg9.
(In this dialog box, the button "New Style" is also greyed out.

Oops, got the wrong end of the stick.
I am not sure to have a TOC with the "TOC" style different in the same
document.
You never mentioned what Word version you use?
I will have a look around, maybe someone else may confirm the ability or
lack of.

Quick question: have you used all the TOC styles up already in your document?
ie the TOC1 to TOC9, as you can use these for different TOCs and apply the
new styles to say TOC3 to TOC6 and change the Outline Level that these pickup.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't solve my problem completely.
I can only use 3 different TOC-styles of 3 levels each.....I need more
I'm using Word2007

Danny - I am getting the feeling that changing the formatting of a TOC beyond
the built-in TOC1-9 is not possible.
Below is an article that has very simple instructions for multiple TOCs in
one document.
Read the section "A partial table of contents" in

Do you really need to have so many TOC in one document with differing formats?
Having the differing TOCs is not enough! ;-)
The only way I see is to create the TOCs and then apply manual formatting -
I know not the best solution but at least you get the affect.

Thanks for your help.
But I've already found the document you are referring to.
I created already several TOCs, 8 at this moment. But there seems to exist
only 1 style for all those TOCs.
I did manual formatting until I find a solution.

Yes, I need so many TOCs. I'm an instructor and I'm creating 1 document with
several different exercises for my students, so there's a TOC per exercise.
(I've already tried to work with subdocuments.....but that doesn't work at
all, it's a mess. That's why I've chosen to include everything in 1 document)

If you bookmark the relevant text you can create as many TOCs as you like;
the scope of each TOC will be limited by the bookmark. Have you actually
tried the techniques for creating "A partial table of contents" suggested in
the article that Dean linked to?

The issue here is not the content of the TOC, Stefan, but the formatting. I
personally think that three different sets of formatting (using TOC 1-3,
4-6, and 7-9) should surely be adequate for one book, however.

Thanks for your answer, but I think you misunderstood me.
I've already created different TOCs, but all the TOCs use
Inhopg1.....Inhopg9 as output style. I want to use a different style .

I must be missing something then. Why do you need to format TOC entries in
(so many) different ways?

This is my basic question. If he's using only three levels per TOC, then he
has three possible TOC formats. If these are meant to be just illustrations
for a sort of textbook, then perhaps screen shots or some other sort of
image could be used.
