how to upgrade office 2000 to Office 2003 using GPO

Jeffrey

I have quite a number of pc that I intend to upgrade the office 2000 to
Office 2003

Amyone has any idea whether that be done through GPO

what will happen to the existing office 2000 application after using the GPO
to push down the client end. Actually, I don't intend to see office 2000
anymore after it is upgraded to 2003.

Jeffrey,

The best way to do this is to install the media to a network
installation point and then use the Office Resource Kit (ORK) to create
a transform file (MST) that will have all of the new settings
configurations that you want to push to your users.

From there, the configuration of the new office installation can be
bound to a GPO and pushed out to the workstations in your environment.
You will want to lab this on a few machines in a test OU before taking
this into production.

Finally, if you are doing a large installation or installations that are
crossing WAN boundaries, you will want to plan the location of network
installation points and the distribution of files.

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Jeffrey,

To add one bit to Ryan's reply, the MS Office 20003 Resource kit (ORK2003) is available online through
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ork2003/
